A world in their own minds...

"Readers, after all, are making the world with you. You give them the materials, but it's the readers who build that world in their own minds."  Ursula Le Guin

  1. I interviewed Charles Grant back in the 90's and he told me a story about a woman who came up to him, berating him for creating such gruesome pictures with his words. She was referring to a zombie story he'd written and all he'd said was something to the effect that the zombie tore the man's arm off. The woman went on to describe how she must have imagined the event, even though he added none of those details. It just goes to show you the power of suggestion and the unique bond between reader and writer! :)
